Attacking horizontally: Michigan tried to stretch the defense vertically on the first drive, dialing up a deep shot on the first play and a slot fade on third down. Then it started successfully attacking the edge using orbit motion.
Patterson in groove: Shea Patterson settled in after a slow start. He made some big throws and kept plays alive with his legs. He hit receivers in stride on screens.
