Michigan football grades: Offense, defense, coaching thoroughly outclassed by Georgia

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Free Press sports writer Michael Cohen grades Michigan football on a scale of A to F after the Wolverines’ 34-11 loss to Georgia:

Offense: D-minus

For as complex as football can be, the matchup between the Wolverines’ offensive line and the Bulldogs’ defensive line always seemed like it was going to decide the game. The former was recognized as the best unit the country when it received the Joe Moore Award earlier this month, while the latter is flush with NFL-caliber talent that will produce multiple first-round picks. But what was billed as a strength-on-strength battle finished as a thoroughly one-sided affair when Michigan failed to carve out space in the trenches.
