Michigan football grades: Defense perfect, OL comes through vs. MSU

Free Press sports writer Nick Baumgardner rates the Wolverines on a scale of 1-10 after the 21-7 win at Michigan State:

Offense: 5

The missed opportunities had to have been beyond frustrating. The turnovers were worse. And Michigan's offense, despite moving the football for nearly 200 yards in the first half, had its defense in a horrible situation in the third quarter. But, Shea Patterson shook off some rough reads with a the throw of the day: A 79-yard touchdown over the top to Donovan Peoples-Jones that broke a 7-7 tie. The offensive line did the rest, grinding the Spartans down the field on a critical fourth-quarter drive that was extended by Patterson's critical fourth-and-2 keeper for a first down.
