Well, that went better than expected. Michigan football has made a habit this of year of throwing a haymaker to start the game, then waiting out the ten count with the opponent in a headlock, just for good measure.
The haymakers the Wolverines threw at Northwestern on Saturday were the equivalent of this.
Jehu Chesson took the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown after Northwestern kicked it away from Jabrill Peppers. Chesson promptly showed them why that was a bad idea. After a Northwestern three-and-out, the Michigan offense marched down the field in about three minutes and scored on a one-yard run from Drake Johnson.
