Michigan football flips Ohio State baseball commit Joey Velazquez

Joey Velazquez, who had been committed to play baseball for Ohio State, on Friday announced that he would play football and baseball for Michigan.

Velazquez is a 6-0, 205-pound safety from St. Francis de Sales High in Columbus, Ohio. He is ranked a three-star prospect and the No. 79 safety nationally for the 2019 class by the 247Sports Composite.

“Extremely blessed to say that I will be furthering my academic, football and baseball career at the University of Michigan,” Velazquez wrote on Twitter.

Velazquez visited Michigan in March.

"When I was at Michigan I was able to speak to Coach Harbaugh after practice, and we had a good talk," Velazquez told Bill Greene of 247Sports.
