Joey Velazquez, who had been committed to play baseball for Ohio State, on Friday announced that he would play football and baseball for Michigan.
Velazquez is a 6-0, 205-pound safety from St. Francis de Sales High in Columbus, Ohio. He is ranked a three-star prospect and the No. 79 safety nationally for the 2019 class by the 247Sports Composite.
“Extremely blessed to say that I will be furthering my academic, football and baseball career at the University of Michigan,” Velazquez wrote on Twitter.
Velazquez visited Michigan in March.
"When I was at Michigan I was able to speak to Coach Harbaugh after practice, and we had a good talk," Velazquez told Bill Greene of 247Sports.
