For a few moments, it seemed as if Saturday's game at Michigan Stadium was heading toward a classic Michigan-Michigan State slugfest. The Spartans got a couple stops and struck first, and quarterback Brian Lewerke made a few impressive throws.
The Wolverines scored 24 consecutive points, and by the early third quarter, the game was out of reach for the undermanned and underpowered Spartans. And when the clock hit zero, Michigan had a 44-10 victory — the most lopsided win in this rivalry since 2002.
