With the conclusion of conference championships this past weekend, the College Football Playoff and bowl games are officially set and the regular season is officially over. As such, Bill Connelly and ESPN released their pre-postseason edition of their SP+ rankings. In the latest edition, Michigan fell from No. 33 to No. 34 in the country.
For those of you who are new to SP+, it’s an alternative form of ranking college football teams based on efficiencies for a given team on offense, defense, and special teams. Connelly describes it as, “A tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency.
