Michigan football drops out of top-10 of ESPN’s SP+ rankings following Week 1

The Michigan Wolverines have been one of the more talked about teams nationally after a relatively sluggish 30-10 victory over Fresno State on Saturday night. As a result, the Wolverines slid out of the top-10 in the latest SP+ rankings.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with SP+, ESPN’s Bill Connelly describes it as, “a tempo and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency” that takes into account a team’s efficiencies in all three phases of the game. It uses these efficiencies to form one metric that can be used as an alternative method to rank college football teams.
