Michigan football assistant coach Anthony Campanile going to Miami Dolphins

The coaching carousel took a sudden turn Wednesday night.

Shortly after it appeared he would remain with Michigan football as an assistant coach, Anthony Campanile is now slated to become an assistant coach with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, a source confirmed to the Free Press.

The news was first reported by Yahoo's Pete Thamel.

Campanile was expected to remain in Ann Arbor after he was a top target for Rutgers and Boston College, which both reportedly wanted to hire him as defensive coordinator.

But the Scarlet Knights (Campanile's alma mater) and Eagles ended up hiring other coaches, seemingly paving the way for Michigan to hold onto Campanile.
