Michigan flips OSU baseball commit to football

The Wolverines claimed a recruiting victory of sorts over Ohio State on Friday morning, though it wasn’t the typical commitment flip. Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis DeSales multi-sport star Joey Velazquez announced in September of 2016 that he would play baseball for the Buckeyes, but after camping in Ann Arbor this week, he decided instead that Michigan football would be his primary path.

Velazquez hopes to participate in both sports at the next level and is slated to play VIPER linebacker for the football team. In baseball, the lefty outfielder posted a .461 batting average last season.
