In a game delayed three hours by snow, the Wolverines finally went cold.
Just a few months ago, in May, the Michigan field hockey team went deep into an NCAA tournament shootout — after two 10-minute overtime periods had come and gone — and prevailed, beating Louisville to claim a spot in the national final against North Carolina.
But on Sunday, with a spot in the national semifinals — scheduled for the same Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor on which they were playing — at stake in a shootout, the Wolverines whiffed. All three Michigan shooters missed, while all three Harvard shooters scored, and the Crimson defeated U-M, 1-0.
