The Michigan basketball program has had tremendous success under the direction of John Beilein, making the NCAA Tournament five times over the span of six years prior to last season, moving all the way to the finals in 2013. On Wednesday morning, the Maize and Blue showed its commitment to the head coach, extending Beilein’s contract through the 2020-21 season.
“John is one of the most respected coaches in the country and revered people within the university community,” interim athletic director Jim Hackett said. “While he has accomplished many great things on the basketball court, it is his leadership, guidance and role as an educator that truly makes him one of our great ambassadors.
