New Michigan defensive line coach Greg Scruggs, hired to the staff earlier this month, was arrested early Saturday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
An Ann Arbor police spokesman confirmed Scruggs' arrest at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday. Michigan announced its hiring of Scruggs on March 6, as part of a revamped defensive staff now being led by coordinator Wink Martindale.
A Michigan spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. An OWI charge in Michigan carries penalties of up to 93 days in jail, a $500 fine and six months' suspended license.
Scruggs, 33, spent the 2023 season coaching Wisconsin's defensive line after serving as assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets in 2022.
