Michigan defense holds up in win over Penn State

It was a penalty-filled game for the Wolverines, and one where they gave up a few big plays, but the defense held up the rest of the way, giving the Maize and Blue a 28-16 victory over Penn State.

Michigan finished the season with a perfect road record in Big Ten play for the first time since 1997, winning in Happy Valley for the first time since 2006.

It was a rough start for the Wolverines’ defense, giving up a 56 yard run on the Nittany Lions’ opening drive. Michigan’s red zone defense was excellent throughout the contest though, holding Penn State to field goal attempts on their three trips inside the 20.
