Michigan blitzes Michigan State early, often for 86-57 win at Crisler

At this point in the season, facing desperation, Michigan basketball coach John Beilein is willing to try anything.

So before Tuesday's critical matchup against Michigan State, his pregame speech went to the dogs.

Begging his players for intensity, he posted a picture of a Doberman with "big teeth" and his players responded, blitzing Michigan State early and building through the first half, eventually burying the Spartans, 86-57.

Michigan's largest margin of victory in the series since 1996 was fueled by that intensity, established with the pregame kick in the butt.

"Today was like perfect, they were right there," Beilein said.
