The Michigan Wolverines faced significant challenges last season, particularly in late-game situations. An analysis of their performance during those critical moments painted a clear picture; there was room for improvement. With a 4-13 record in games decided by six points or less, the Wolverines left many wondering what could have been.
Instead of dwelling on the past, the coaching staff, currently led by Phil Martelli while Juwan Howard continues to recover from heart surgery, has taken a proactive approach to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself.
“One of the things that we’ve dedicated ourselves to this year is that in every other practice, or two out of three days, we are doing situations,” Martelli said, stressing the importance of recreating those tense scenarios.
