NEW YORK — The mark was clearly visible: A dark, purple ring around Brandon Johns Jr.'s right eye.

The bruise was a parting gift from Michigan's hard-fought 69-63 win over Rutgers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon.

Johns says he got it during a play in which both teams jostled for positioning and Rutgers tipped the ball multiple times. It's not his first black eye this season.
