With two assistant coaching positions open, Michigan basketball coach John Beilein has reportedly hired away DeAndre Haynes from Illinois State. Haynes had only been with the Cyclones since May. He spent last season as an assistant at Toledo in the MAC.
For the second consecutive offseason, the Wolverines were hit with a pair of devastating departures at the assistant coach level. Last year, LaVall Jordan and Bacari Alexander left for head coaching gigs. This year, it was Billy Donlon and top assistant Jeff Meyer.
Donlon, who had only been on the staff for one season, opted to reunite with Chris Collins, a longtime friend, at Northwestern.
