Just four days ago, Michigan basketball wasn’t even sure if it would be playing in the Big Ten tournament this year after its plane had to abort takeoff on its way to Washington D.C. Now, shortly before the NCAA tournament field is revealed, the Wolverines are Big Ten champions.
Michigan beat Wisconsin for the second time—71-56 this time around—this season to win the conference championship. As a No. 8 seed, the Wolverines became the lowest seed to ever win the Big Ten tournament.
It seems like Michigan usually does its work with efficient offense, but against Wisconsin it was the defense that showed up in a big way.
