With time winding down to the selection show on Sunday, Michigan basketball‘s odds of making it into the field appeared to be a complete tossup.
Thanks to two heart-stopping wins over Northwestern and Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament, Michigan did just enough in the final stages of the season to convince the selection committee that it’s actually a tournament team. What undoubtedly helped the Wolverines’ case was not having a loss to a team outside the RPI top 100.
Michigan started the season at 17-5 and looked to be in great shape for a tournament bid.
