The farther the Michigan Wolverines go without Caris LeVert, the worse it looks. The Wolverines did get back in the win column on Wednesday night after getting blown out by Indian and Michigan State, beating Minnesota 82-74.
And to be frank, an 82-74 final doesn’t reflect how close this game actually got down the stretch.
The Wolverines used a career night from Derrick Walton Jr. to get out to multiple comfortable leads over the Gophers, but Minnesota kept inviting itself back into the game. Michigan’s largest lead of the night was 19.
With 5:46 to play, the Gophers cut the lead to nine, and Michigan was starting to show signs of the team we’ve seen take the court recently.
