EVANSTON — Missed layups. Missed dunks. And then two early fouls for Zavier Simpson.
Michigan basketball got off to as slow a start as possible at Northwestern on Wednesday night.
And it didn't matter.
Simpson, the senior point guard and leader of the offense, exited the game after picking up his second foul with 12:57 left in the first half and Michigan trailing, 13-6.
The Wolverines subsequently ripped off a 32-10 run to end the half, turning a sloppy, competitive game into a blowout. From there, Michigan (15-9, 6-7 Big Ten) cruised to a 79-54 win — their second road victory of the season in seven tries.
