NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — When former North Carolina star Cam Johnson decided to transfer from Pittsburgh following the 2016-17 season, Michigan and its now-former coach, John Beilein, were hot on his heels.
Johnson eventually picked the Tar Heels. But Beilein wasn't done recruiting the Johnson family just yet.
Donovan "Puff" Johnson, a 4-star wing in the class of 2020 and Cam's younger brother, emerged as a target for the Wolverines. Beilein had paid a visit to Johnson at his high school, where they spent roughly an hour-and-a-half talking before Johnson worked out for 30 minutes.
