Michigan basketball was already going to be hurting going into the 2017-18 seasons, thanks to the graduation of Derrick Walton Jr. and Zak Irvin.
Yet, the announcement yesterday from Moe Wagner and D.J. Wilson that they are entering the NBA Draft, makes the situation even worse. Now, the pursuit of a graduate transfer (or two), which was already underway, becomes much more important.
It’s clear the Wolverines will need help to get back to the big dance next season. Replacing the scoring of Walton and Irvin was already going to be difficult. But replacing two, athletic big guys, who can shoot, rebound and score inside, is going to be downright impossible.
