Just two seasons ago, John Beilein had some really talented assistants on his Michigan basketball coaching staff, including LaVall Jordan, Bacari Alexander and Jeff Meyer.
Jordan and Alexander both accepted head coaching jobs at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Detroit Mercy, respectively, after the 2015-16 season. Jordan then made headlines recently when he accepted the same position at Butler after Chris Holtmann left for Ohio State.
Now, there is unfortunately another departure to report, as Meyer is leaving the Wolverines to join Jordan at Butler. Meyer was an assistant there from 2001-04.
As David Woods of The Indianapolis Star points out, it’s a pretty big deal that Meyer would leave Michigan after nine years for a school like Butler, a move that would have been almost completely inconceivable not that long ago.
