Michigan basketball has national title vibes when Jordan Poole gets hot

The freshman with the swag and the slicked-back hair and the NBA-ready body may be Michigan’s leading scorer. But Ignas Brazdeikis is not the Wolverines’ most talented offensive player.

That’s Jordan Poole, the 6-5 — 6-4, if we’re actually measuring — shooting guard who can create his own shot from anywhere. The sophomore dropped 18 points Sunday in U-M's 74-63 win over Indiana.

But forget the point total for a moment, and consider how he scores. Even with the help of John Beilein's complex read-and-react system, Poole doesn’t need any help to get a bucket when the shot clock is winding down.
