EAST LANSING — Michigan coach John Beilein stood on the sidelines in Breslin Center on Saturday night, as the Big Ten championship was slipping away.
Michigan’s 12-point lead over Michigan State had disappeared.
Michigan’s momentum? Gone.
The shots had stopped falling. Mistakes were piling up. The foul trouble was mounting. And the Spartans had all of the momentum, showing a tremendous display of grit and tenacity, coming back from a horrible first-half performance.
Beilein called timeout, trying to stop the bleeding.
But it was too late.

The MSU fans were going nuts, a pulsing, jumping, waving whiteout, as the Spartans rolled to a 75-63 victory, earning a share of the regular-season Big Ten title, along with Purdue.
