Michigan Basketball falls in latest AP Poll entering final week of the regular season

Following a 2-1 week — including a blowout loss at home to Illinois on Sunday — the Michigan Wolverines dropped from No. 15 to No 17 in the latest AP Poll.

Following a narrow three-point win at Nebraska last Monday, the Wolverines followed that up with an even closer two-point victory at Crisler Center over Rutgers. That game went Michigan’s way thanks to Nimari Burnett’s buzzer-beating three-pointer as time expired.

Michigan put up a stinker on Sunday afternoon against an unranked Illinois Fighting Illini squad. The Illini put up 93 points (62 in the second half alone) and out-rebounded Michigan, 43-31, including 19 — NINETEEN — offensive boards.
