It's difficult to overstate the impact Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske had for Michigan basketball.
Over four seasons, the duo won 108 games, reached the Sweet 16 three consecutive seasons, won two straight Big Ten tournament titles and reached the national title game.
They were the cornerstones of John Beilein's final years with the program — and a bridge that connected Beilein's tenure and that of his successor, Juwan Howard.
But that era of Michigan basketball is over now. And the easiest way to tell would be to listen in to one of the Wolverines' workouts or practices — and realize Simpson, the vocal leader of the team, and Teske, a dependable multi-year starter who led by example, aren't on the court to direct teammates.
