Following the loss by Michigan basketball to Michigan State last month, it seemed like the Wolverines were a long shot to win the Big Ten regular-season championship.
Not only were the Wolverines going to have to win out, but they would also need Purdue to lose at least one game to an unranked opponent. With Michigan basketball playing at Maryland before traveling to Michigan State, UM winning out wasn’t a sure thing, just like it wasn’t a sure thing that Purdue would lose.
Well, Sunday, Michigan took care of its part of the deal, notching a huge road win over the 17th-ranked Terrapins, which pushed the Wolverines record to 15-4 with Michigan State remaining.
