ANN ARBOR -- On the eve of the first college basketball practice of the season, Michigan head coach John Beilein gave his first extended interview since undergoing heart surgery in early August.
Beilein noted to U-M Sports TV's Ed Kengerski on Monday all he's been through the past several months: the Wolverines' run to the national championship game; his interview for the Detroit Pistons' coaching job; and, on Aug. 6, double bypass surgery.
"It's been a heck of a summer," Beilein said.
The 65-year-old coach will begin his 12th season at Michigan on Tuesday, when the Wolverines have their first official practice of the 2018-19 season.
