The NBA draft has become an exciting ritual for Michigan basketball. That’s because, under head coach John Beilein, the Wolverines have had someone selected more often than not.
Since Beilein took over, eight Michigan basketball players have been selected in the draft, including six in the first round. D.J. Wilson went 20th to the Bucks last year. In 2016, it was Caris Lavert going to the Nets; Mitch McGary and Nik Stauskas both went first round in 2014, as did Tim Hardaway III and Trey Burke in 2013.
It remains to be seen whether or not Moe Wagner will become Beilein’s seventh first rounder, but he will get his name called today, likely within the first 40 picks.
