Michigan basketball coach John Beilein locked down a big commitment for the class of 2016 on Wednesday, as Rivals Top 100 point guard Xavier Simpson (Lima, Ohio) made his announcement during a press conference at his school.
The 5-foot-11 Simpson is ranked No. 87 by Rivals.com and No. 55 by Scout.com, making him the highest ranked prospect in Michigan’s 2016 class.
Simpson’s commitment comes just hours after Detroit U-D Jesuit point guard Cassius Winston — ranked No. 28 by both Rivals and Scout — announced that the Wolverines had been eliminated from his list of choices.
