ANN ARBOR -- The Michigan baseball team's home opener against Lawrence Tech on March 14 was supposed to be a confidence booster for the Wolverines heading into Big Ten play.
Instead of coming away with a victory against a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics school, the Wolverines lost 8-3, dropping their record to 4-11.
Michigan (22-11, 9-0 Big Ten) hasn't lost since, though, beating visiting Penn State 19-5 on Friday for its 18th straight victory, the team's longest win streak since 1988.
"The lightbulb went off when we lost to a NAIA school on this field," sixth-year head coach Erik Bakich said.
