ANN ARBOR, MI - The University of Michigan Athletic Department projects a $2 million for the coming fiscal year, while reporting a $2.4 surplus for the current year.
UM Athletic Director Warde Manuel presented the budget, which projected operating revenues of $182.4 million and expenses of $180.4 million for the 2018 fiscal year, during the Thursday, June 15 Board of Regents meeting. The current budget year's surplus, Manuel said, was due to higher than anticipated licensing revenue and conference distributions.
Conference distributions are projected to increase to $51.1 million for the 2018 fiscal year, from $36.3 million this year, due mostly to a new conference TV agreement.
