Michigan football's Citrus Bowl matchup against Alabama was ABC's most-watched bowl game since the 2010 national championship, ESPN announced.
The game — which Alabama won 35-16 — surpassed 14 million viewers, surpassing Alabama's Rose Bowl win over Texas in 2010.
The Citrus Bowl had multiple intriguing story lines. It pitted Jim Harbaugh against Nick Saban, two of the three highest-paid coaches in college football, and it featured the winningest (Michigan) and fourth-winningest (Alabama) programs in college football history.
Michigan led 16-14 at halftime before being shut out in the second half. Alabama was selected to the game after missing the College Football Playoff for the first time since its inception in 2014.
