Michigan athletics began allowing players to return to campus this week to start the process of voluntary workouts.
With the coronavirus pandemic, this process comes a great deal of uncertainty.
Athletic director Warde Manuel spoke on a media conference call Thursday afternoon to discuss what the future holds for his coaches, staff members and student-athletes.
"First and foremost, the health and safety of our student-athletes dominate our decision making as we move forward," he said, "and will continue to dominate those decisions that we need to make around how we have them participate in voluntary activities, practices or competitions, should we get there.
