ANN ARBOR -- Michigan women's basketball opened the 2015-16 season with a home win Saturday, topping Binghamton, 90-62.
After leading by 11 at the half, the Wolverines blew the game open in the third quarter, hitting 6-of-9 shots from 3-point range. They led by as many as 23 points in the frame and 30 in the game.
Coach Kim Barnes Arico went with a smaller lineup of four guards to start the second half, using its speed and quick hands to force a pair of early turnovers. Michigan capitalized on both, scoring on a 3 from Siera Thompson and a lay-in by Katelynn Flaherty to push the lead to 18.
