ANN ARBOR -- Michigan forward Josh Norris was involved in a blockbuster trade on Thursday.
The sophomore, who was selected 19th overall in last year's NHL draft, had his rights traded from the San Jose Sharks to the Ottawa Senators for all-star defenseman Erik Karlsson, considered by many to be the best defenseman in the NHL.
The Sharks also sent forward Chris Tierney, defenseman Dylan DeMelo, prospect Rudolfs Balcers, a first-round and second-round draft pick along with two other conditional picks to the Senators.
The 28-year-old Karlsson has won two Norris Trophies as the league's top defenseman and has led all defensemen in scoring in three of the past five seasons.
