Megan Betsa Wasn’t Her Best, But Michigan Softball Survives

Despite a somewhat average day from star pitcher Megan Betsa, Michigan softball beat the Missouri Tigers 5-3 (box score), to pull within a game of a return trip to the WCWS for the 13th time.

Michigan softball came into the tournament seeded second, while was Missouri was seeded 15th. Betsa, who allowed seven hits, but just three runs, wasn’t her best. Yet, she gutted out a win, notching six strikeouts and throwing 116 pitches in the process.

Left fielder Tera Blanco got things started for the Wolverines in the bottom of the first with a single that plated both Sierra Romero and Sierra Lawrence.
