A few days removed from Michigan football players raising their fists during the national anthem before a 49-10 win over Penn State on Saturday, more are stating their views.
Jourdan Lewis explained himself publicly that day, and Michigan senior linebacker Mike McCray posted on Twitter using the hashtag #cometogetherasone. His message twice mentioned that he wanted everyone to understand he meant no disrespect to the national anthem nor the flag and he appreciates those who have fought in the U.S. military.
But he also wanted to explain that his intent is like that of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has sat down during the national anthem, in protest of racial injustice.
