With less than minute left in the fourth quarter, down 24-20, fourth-and-goal at the two yard line, the Michigan Wolverines called up a play for running back Kalel Mullings. The confidence in Mullings is well deserved — after all, he has been a stalwart for the Wolverines this season. But that decision wasn’t simply because of Mullings’ abilities: it was also because of the blockers in front of him.
And as offensive line coach Grant Newsome puts it, Mullings was running behind “the best fullback in college football.”
As Mullings journeyed to the end zone, fullback Max Bredeson led the way.
