When Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh's contract addendum emerged last week, the addition pushed him to the brink of being the highest-paid coach in the country.
Harbaugh's annual salary, including the $2-million life-insurance payment agreed to in June, now is $7 million per year (actually $9 million this year, because there are two payments.)
The annual salary places Harbaugh just below Alabama's Nick Saban, who was just above $7 million last season.
"It doesn't bother me he's that close to the top," U-M athletic director Warde Manuel said during a roundtable session with reporters today.
