INDIANAPOLIS -- Jaylen Johnson grew up in the shadow of Ann Arbor. As a senior in high school, he moved there, five minutes from Crisler Center at the University of Michigan, where he participated in open-gym sessions with the stars of the 2013 NCAA runner-up which lost to Louisville.
When those same players, Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Mitch McGary, played for the national championship just months earlier, Johnson rooted for them. He thought it would be great to have a champion in his hometown.
