Lewis named Thorpe Award semifinalist

The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame announced on Monday the 16 semifinalists for the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award and Michigan junior cornerback Jourdan Lewis made the cut.

Through seven games, Lewis is the Wolverines’ fourth leading tackler with 24 stops, also intercepting two passes and breaking up 14.

The last Wolverines to make the cut as a semifinalist was Leon Hall in 2006.

The Thorpe Award for the nation’s top defensive back will be trimmed to a group of finalists the week leading up to the final regular season games of the year with the winner announced on Dec.
