The Wolverines scored the first eight points in their season opening victory against Northern Michigan on Friday evening and didn’t look back from there. Michigan held a 10-point edge at half, then pulled away with a 12-2 run to start the second stanza, ultimately claiming a 70-44 win.
“It’s always so good just to get out there and play a real game,” said Michigan head coach John Beilein. “We were pleased, especially in the second half, with how well we defended. … We had to play really solid team defense and that start of the second half was really good for us.
