Trailing on the scoreboard heading into the final two minutes, Michigan tied things up on a Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman three pointer, following it with a Moritz Wagner three-point play. Wagner wasn’t finished making an impact in the closing moments though, hitting a three pointer with 13 seconds remaining to deliver the knockout punch.
“VCU played so hard and they’ve got a lot of talent and a great coach,” said John Beilein after the game. “I think they’ll have a really good year and this win will be a good one for us going forward.
“To have a lead, lose it, and then come back, is just huge for us to understand what winning basketball looks like.
