CORVALLIS, Ore. — Michigan baseball created the perfect recipe for postseason success Friday: dominant starting pitching, multiple home runs and solid defense.
Sophomore right-hander Karl Kauffmann (Brother Rice) shut out Creighton on six hits over 8u2154 innings, three Wolverines hit home runs and they played errorless baseball in a 6-0 victory in their NCAA regional tournament opener at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
“I thought our guys played extremely well. I just thought it was a complete game for us,” said Michigan coach Erik Bakich.
Next, Michigan (42-18) will play either top-seeded Oregon State or Cincinnati at 7 p.
