OMAHA, Nebraska — Jordan Brewer knew it. He knew all of it.
He knew that Austin Martin would be running – he pulled out the defensive strategy card out of his back pocket immediately after Martin walked to open the bottom of the eighth inning on Monday night.
And once he uncorked a laser from right field, he knew Martin would be out.
And before Jeff Criswell got a ground ball to move Michigan baseball within a win of the national championship and before Tommy Henry received a hearty standing ovation from the U-M faithful at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, it was Brewer’s strike that cleared the path for history to be made on Tuesday night.
