Johnson feels ready to compete following forklift accident

Every athlete knows that injuries are a part of sports, and that can be particularly true for football, given the physical nature of the game. Senior running back Drake Johnson understands that all too well, twice during his college career returning from torn ACLs. But nothing could have prepared him for what happened during the off-season.

Johnson left spring practice in the thick of a competition to see carries after starter De’Veon Smith, but just two weeks later experienced a life-threatening incident in the Michigan indoor track building that once again left him working to recover. While the veteran rusher declined to provide specifics on the event, the police report from April 13 detailed how he was accidently run over by a forklift.
